Composer's Biography
Described as “Feldmanesque” in the New York Times, Taiwanese composer Ashley Fu-Tsun Wang's music has been performed throughout the US, Europe and Asia by various ensembles and performers such as Brooklyn Rider String Quartet, MIVOS Quartet, cellist Nicholas Photinos, pianists Eric Huebner, Vicky Chow, Isabelle O'Connell, Jenny Chai, conductors David Gilbert, Brad Lubman and Paul Chiang, at venues including Atlantic Center for the Arts, MASS MoCA, Roulette, The Stone, Gershwin Hotel, Logos Foundation (Belgium), Herz Jesu-Kirche (Germany), Villa Romano (Italy), Kitara Hall (Japan), Bach Hall (Taiwan). Wang’s work has been released under ArpaViva Foundation Inc label; broadcast on WNYC by John Schaefer, Taukay Edizioni Musicali (Italy); received grants from the American Composers Forum and ASCAP Foundation; recognized by Yvar Mikhashoff Trust for New Music, MusicX Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival; performed at June in Buffalo, Pacific Music Festival, Festival of Women Composers, Tutti New Music Festival, Bang on a Can Music Festival, Society of Composers National Conference, among others. She also has worked with noted composers such as Robert Beaser, Matthias Pintscher, Joel Hoffman, David Felder, Steven Stucky, David Lang, Michael Gordon, Julia Wolfe, Lera Auerbach, Fabien Lévy, Michael Hersch, Nils Vigeland.
