Composer's Biography

Ian Ng graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts with major in Music Composition and is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Music Composition at New York University. He is a recipient of the HKAPA Society Scholarship, CASH Music Composition Scholarship, Hong Kong Composers’ Guild Scholarship, the Hong Kong Jockey Club 3-year full Scholarship and the Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund. In 2007, Mr. Ng’s a capella piece ‘Soul Calling’ was awarded the First Prize in the Creative Music Contest for Composition-cum-Performing Groups organized by the Hong Kong Composers’ Guild. In 2009, he was awarded the First Prize for ‘Liberation of Souls’ in the Asian Composers League Young Composers Competition in Korea. His orchestral piece ‘Luis Sharks’ was performed by the Academy Symphonic Orchestra in early 2011. He has collaborated with The Macau Percussion Association, The Hong Kong Arts Development Council, City Contemporary Dance Company, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, The HKAPA Music Faculty, The HKAPA Dance Faculty.
