WINNER OF THE INTERNATIONAL MUSIC PRIZE FOR EXCELLENCE IN COMPOSITION 2011
Composer's Biography
Maarten van der Meiden studied composition at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Louis Andriessen. His musical pieces are characterized by a documentary style in which he masters to figure out the most subtle emotions. His use of seamless transitions between romantic and expressionist pieces is remarkable. The ability of recording music in a private music studio and the contacts with a variety of professional musicians, makes it possible to process acoustic music in orchestral settings.
